"Most Original Sardine" Contest – São João do Salgueiral
As part of the São João celebrations, the Salgueiral Improvement Committee invites the entire community to participate in the contest "The Most Original Sardine"!
Unleash your imagination, create your own decorative sardine, and surprise family, friends, and visitors with a unique, creative, and folk-inspired piece. Anything goes: painting, recycling, crafts, innovative materials, and lots of creativity!
🏆 Award: €25 for the most authentic sardine.
📅 Date: June 24, 2026
🎨 The artworks will be displayed during the São João Night festivities, contributing to making this celebration even more colorful, participatory, and special.
This is an opportunity for all ages to showcase their talent and celebrate one of the most emblematic traditions of Portuguese popular festivals.

Um percurso circular de cerca de 6 km para aproveitar a natureza, conviver e fortalecer os laços da nossa aldeia.
24 de maio — Festa do Divino Espírito Santo

"Repeat Christmas" Snack - December 27th and 28th
Thinking about all those who have already realized, upon looking at their schedules, that they won't be able to get together with friends and family before Christmas, we decided to do something special.
Instead of one, we prepared two afternoons of socializing, so that no one is left out.

Chestnut Festival (Magusto) - November 8th
We invite all residents of Salgueiral, neighbors and friends, to join us for the MAGUSTO on November 8th, starting at 3 PM.
We will share the St. Martin's Day tradition with chestnuts, piquette (água-pé), and other snacks.
And starting at 7 PM we will have a screening of a short film by the director Joana Alves from Arganil.
The new governing bodies of our Improvement Committee welcome everyone and wish you a pleasant afternoon of good company and good cheer.
